Blue Skies

Dollhouse, Week 4

Why in the world would anyone have to hire a Doll to act as a midwife? Does the Glorious Collective of International Birthing Assistants prohibit traveling to mountain chalets? And unless the child is an alien and/or a Cylon, there's no reason that the midwife shouldn't be able remember the job. WTF, Joss - it's maddening shit like this that kinda ruins an otherwise strong episode.

I'm choosing to ignore those couple go-nowhere scenes with Ballard and RussianGangsterDoll. I...really have no idea where that's going. Why doesn't DeWitt just have Doll kill him? The Feds will just go after the Russians.)

The high points were, again, any and every scene with Boyd (the character and the actor provide the glue holding this sinking ship together) and Olivia Williams' wardrobe (and her hair was gorgeous).

Gah. Who am I kidding. Really, I'm just huddled on the floor in the fetal position, waiting for my Dr. Horrible DVD to arrive....

  1. Re. midwife: that's actually what I liked! FINALLY some mystery!! Maybe the guy is a spy who had an affair with another spy and she got pregnant. Maybe... maybe... or maybe the network got too involved again and screwed up the writers' ideas.

I didn't get the Victor and Tamoh scenes either at first. MAYBE Tamoh knows Vic is part of the Dollhosue conspiracy and by putting him on the radar of every law agency in the world, he can keep track of him at all times. Hmm?

And, ahem, Adelle rocks. Gawgeous, lethal, possibly has a heart in there somewhere. Don't care, just love her to death.

Quickly bring us to ep 6, people!

  2. It would've been nice if they would've told us it was a special spy alien baby or whatever. But for all we know it was just really rich people wasting their massive bank account for no logical reason. Which just makes them seem stupid and frivolous, instead of interesting or endearing...like super spy alien babies.

I'm curious about Adelle - we've never seen her speak to Echo outside of that very first scene of the premiere where she's recruiting Catherine. One of the more intriguing parts of the ep was that we saw Adelle interacting with Sierra. I'm curious to know how Adelle got into this whole thing and what exactly her philosophy is behind the whole Doll-thing.
